The series is being coordinated, published and disseminated by NPIC. The photographic analysis is being performed by the NPIC Photographic Analysis Group, the CIA Photographic Intelligence Division (NPIC), and the Production Center 1Plc (DIA). The photographic analysis for this particular re- port was performed by the Production Center 1PIc. In the interest of uniformity, the titles and letter designators for the facilities observed at these installations are identical with those appearing in the project requirement. When a specific facility is not observed both its title and letter designator are omitted in the report. No rail service is observed. Visible in the administrative, housing, and general storage areas are a multi- storied barracks, three multistoried admini- stration buildings, 15 storage sheds, seven sup- port buildings/sheds, and a POL shed probably used for gasoline storage. In the vehicle maintenance areas are 11 maintenance/vehicle storage sheds, 18 maintenance/storage build- ings, and an industrial-type building with a monitor roof which is used for major main- tenance and overhaul of vehicles (Figures 2 and 3). The Air Target Chart covering this in- stallation refers to it as an anti-tank training unit; however, it is now believed that the major function is vehicle maintenance and overhaul for all wheeled vehicles/trucks in the Zhitomir area. 25X1 25X1 The installation has been covered by missions I 25X1 Railroad Service No railroad or spur serves the instal- lation. The Novograd-Volynskiy--Berdichev railroad passes just east of Zhitomir, 5.5 km from this installation. Road Service A road from Zhitomir to Chudnov passes through the installation. Administrative and Troop Housing Areas Area Dl contains one multistoried barracks and two support sheds. Area D2 contains two L-shaped multistoried administration build- ings, one T-shaped multistoried administration building, and five small support buildings. General Storage Areas Area El contains three storage sheds and five smaller sheds. Area E2 contains three storage sheds and four smaller storage sheds. POL Storage Area Area C contains one 60- by 20-foot POL shed within a 300- by 300-foot walled area. The shed is probably used for gasoline storage. Equipment Storage/Maintenance Areas Area J1 contains eight 130- by 40-foot maintenance/vehicle storage buildings and six smaller maintenance/storage buildings. A large number of small wheeled vehicles are parked in the area. Area J2 contains one T-shaped industrial-type building with a monitor roof. The main building measures 290 by 130 feet, the monitor roof 290 by 70 feet, and the T 210 by 60 feet. The building is used for major maintenance and overhaul of vehicles and trucks. The area also contains one 190- by 50-foot L- shaped maintenance/storagebuild- ing and four 90- by 50-foot maintenance/ storage buildings. Area J3 contains three 230- by 60-foot maintenance/vehicle storage build- storage buildings. parked in this area. Athletic Field maintenance/ Small Arms Firing Range Area L is a 430- by firing range.
