Ledra Street is in the middle of the divided capital city of Nicosia. A busy shopping center, it has figured prominently in its nation’s divided history. At 1 km long, it connects the southern and northern parts of the old city and has been the site of several battles for occupation. Ledra Street hosts part of the buffer zone established along the ceasefire line, separating the northern Turkish controlled part of the island from the south.
