This statue in Edinburgh is a tribute to Greyfriar’s Bobby, a Skye terrier who was a constant companion to his owner John Gray. When Gray passed away 1858 and was buried in Greyfriar’s Kirkyard, Bobby never left his master’s grave until his death 14 years later. This statue honoring his loyalty is near the Kirkyard where Bobby’s grave is also, not far from his master even in death. This story of canine loyalty lives on in books and movies.
