SUBJECT: Direction Finding Test
In August 1971 CIA and NSA technicians tested short
range Direction Finding (DF) equipment
against radio transmissions from a
CIA mobile
transmitter. The two agencies had developed the special DF
equipment to meet an overseas operational need of particular
importance and sensitivity and selected
as it provided climatic and terrain conditions roughly
equivalent to those of the overseas city. The
