Disuatch from Karlsruhe:
1. The following information was obtained from one Otto GRUBER, a'- former
SS NCO who is associated with form SS Colonel Walther RAiJIT, who, according
to GRUBER, is presently in Naples, Italy (exact address unknown). Both
individuals recently completed a year of service with the Syrian military
intelligence service after which they returned to Germany via Italy, where .
RAIIFF remained while GRUBER came to Munich, where he arrive a few days ago.

6. HAMSI was waiting in ROME for his departure. He is not exuected to return.
RAUFF, ROME, was in Syria at that time. He returned to ROME on 10 December
1948.. Purpose and result of this trip are not yet known.
12. It has to be pointed out that certain persons in RO?E, who work without
being ordered on their own initiative in the. same field, considerably
disturb his scheduled activities. M met one of them, a friend of
von RAUF js, who introduced himself as "a representative of a German
group of officers"; RAUFF is apparently in close connection with HOETTL,
BAD ATBSEE. Fbssibly,.HOETTL's last trip to.Germany may be connected
with RAUFF's.trip to Syria.

mission as.Dr. IBO. Reason for his return to Syria was the arrest of German
officers who were recruited by him in INNSBRUCK.
3. RAUFF: Former' Commander of the 4ecurity Fblice in MILANO. At present
teacher on a monastery school in RUNE and deputy of HOMEY.
