called to advise me of a conversation with Bill, Miller, Staff Director,
Senate Select Committee on Intelligence, in which Miller indicated that
net week the Committee will want to go into the questions raised by
Senator Gary Hart (D., Colo.) with regard to the sensitivity of the
information on CIA activities in Chile and why Richard Helms, former
DCI, could not discuss these since the Church Committee had gone. into the
matter and released all information given them. (I noted that the Church
Committee had not released all information but indicated that we would'
have the Director prepared to cover this subject. Miller also asked why
in camera briefing procedures were not used by OGC and the Department
