MEMORANDUM
ON
DUNCAN CHAPLIN LEE
Today I visited with Lee at some length and I
was very favorably impressed. He seems to have a very
keen and well disciplined mind and he has been properly
trained for good hard work and long hours. In addition
to his law work, he has been helping with the Russian
and Chinese Relief Services, and that has meant a very
full schedule.
His background is exceptional. He lived some
years in China and has a conversational knowledge of the
language. In addition, he traveled widely over western
Europe during the time that he was a Rhodes Scholar at
Oxford. He took a B.A. and a B.C.L. in law and finished
his work at Yale before taking up law practice with
Donovan, Leisure, Newton & Lumbard. At this writing I
have been unable to contact his main references, but
this will be completed Friday morning, at which time
they will all be back in the City.
I feel that this young man could be of service
somewhere. He will not be able to get away from his
firm for at least two weeks and during this time some-
thing definite may turn up which would be particularly
suitable for his talents.
