South Vietnam 2. Communist China 3. Thailand No major developments have been reported today. Viet Cong military activity gen- erally remains light and widely scat- tered. There are press reports, how- ever, of a battle in progress for con- trol of a government post 35 miles south of Danang. Peiping is stepping up the pres- sure on the Thais. The junta has recently succeeded in mending its own fences. Junta chief. Bar- rientos agreed to withdraw his presiden- tial candidacy for the time being 50X1 50X1 50X1 Declassified in Part - Sanitized Copy Approved for Release 2015/07/24 : CIA-RDP79T00936A003600080001-9 Declassified in Part - Sanitized Copy Approved for Release 2015/07/24 : CIA-RDP79T00936A003600080001-9 -0- CAMEROON \ DEMOCRATIC REPUBLIC OF THE CONGO ---- International boundary Province boundary 0 National capital * Province capital Areas outside government control 0 190 290 Miles a 160 200 Kilometers o I.Bolobo GABON. ?/%i -8- 2i4 CENTRAL AFRICAN REPUBLIC \ ; _4 G UBANGIemena Lisa la MOVEN- Bumba ? ?
