5. USSR-Indonesia
a. The Indonesians say the
Soviet ambassador recently renewed
an offer of further credits to the
tune of $100 million. They think
it is for additional economic pro-
jects. So far they have drawn only
$45 million of $368 million credits
for economic aid already extended.
b. Rather than accept the
offer, the Indonesians hope to in-
duce the Soviets to defer payments
on Indonesia's $650 million military
debt.

a. Although the "Five" are
going ahead with preparations for
the resumption of talks next week,
official and public opinion is
gloomy over British EEC prospects.
c. West German officials,
Bundestag members and industrialists
say they have put pressure on Adenauer,
but they doubt he will put up a real
argument with De Gaulle.
d. It is too soon to evaluate
a Reuters report of this morning to
the effect that after the first
De Gaulle-Adenauer session West
Germany still favors British member-
ship.

A. India-Pakistan About the best that can be said for
the second round of talks on Kashmir which ended
Saturday is that both sides have agreed to meet
again in about two weeks. The two sides are about
as far apart as ever on basic issues.
