a. Adoula is concerned lest
the recent trouble in Brazzaville
be contagious in Leopoldville's cli-
mate of unemployment, rising prices,
and growing shortages.
b. "It can be done here" is
said to be a favorite slogan in the
native quarters of the city, where
Youlou's-corrupt government is openly
likened to Adoula's.
c. The most immediate danger
is a strike of government employees
threatened for next week, which could
easily get out of hand.
d. The discontented Congolese
army, which tends to identify itself
with the masses, probably would not
be very rough with a crowd bent on
ousting the government.

FaUfe to Yugoslavia for a two-weeks working vaca-
tion.
B. Syria-Israel We have no evidence to support the
Syrian claim of Israeli troop concentrations along
the border. The killing of two Israeli workers this
morning by a Syrian patrol will create strong pres-
sure on the Israeli government to take some retalia-
tory action.

attempting to impress their American opposite num-

begun. One Soviet colonel carried his efforts to
the point of getting drunk and doing the twist.
