immunization of cattle against anthrax and rinderpest. Gives
goal of numbers to be immunized in next six months. Names and
locates four serum-vaccine manufacturing agencies in Hupeh area.
Disease control attempts aimed at immediate increase in animal
population. No emphasis on long-range program of eradication of
disease by slaughter of infected animals.
ANALYST'S COMMENT: Determined effort to immunize cattle against
anthrax and rinderpest may indicate preparedness for BIT against
cattle. Prevention of slaughter of animals and attempted con-
trol of disease by immunization alone may indicate urgent need
for immediate increase in animal food products.
