DD/I informed the DDCI that he had arranged a briefing for the Assistant Secretary of Transportation on the Soviet supersonic trans- port. He thought that the Director should be informed of the possibility that Secretary Boyd might drop in on the briefing. DDCI asked Enright to alert the Director. Godfrey discussed the situation in Sierra Leone. Godfrey called the DDCI's attention to a cable from our Embassy in Manila reporting the request of the Philippine government for the return of Sangley Point. Kent reported that CINCSOUTH will be in ONE on Monday to dis- cuss security in the Caribbean area. At the DDCI's suggestion the DD/P will ask C/WH to have a representative join the discussion. DD/S reported that an Air America light transport crashed en route between Danang and Hue. There will be a full report later. Carver called attention to an intelligence report disseminated yesterday on Ky's attitude toward negotiations. The briefings for Ambassadors Bunker and Locke at Headquarters yesterday went well, and they indicated that they might wish further discussions next week. In reply to a question Carver said that Ky and Thieu are still jockeying for position. In reply to a question the DD/I said that he will look into the subject of damage assessments on recent strikes in North Vietnam. DD/S said that he will alert the Director of Communications to have a representative at the briefing in the DDCI's office this morning for Rear Admiral Reedy. gA5sh, i(),,,14. K.
