National Security Archive Interested in South America (U//Fart7T Among this week's submissions from the National Security Archive are requests concerning "the mysterious disappearance of ex-Bolivian President Juan Jose Torres on June I, 1976 in Buenos Aires, Argentina and recovering of his corpse on June 3, 1976 on the outskirts of Buenos Aires, Argentina," "the kidnapping of exiled leader of Chile's Revolutionary Left Movement (MIR) Edgardo Enriquez on April 10, 1976 near Buenos Aires, Argentina." and "the third congress of the Latin American Anti-Communist Confederation held in Asuncion, Paraguay between March 28-30 1977." (who succeeded) ... James McHugh as head of OSS station in Chungking, China in October 1942." The requester further indicated that Captain Miles "was [a] close friend of Tai Li, 'the Hirninler of China."' � The requester was provided with five documents on this subject from the Management of Officially Released Information (MORI) database of previously released material. (U/hiettN1) From the Archives: In 1963, Cuban Trainers Give Peruvian Students Bad Evaluations (umtitre) The Cubans evaluated their Peruvian brethren harshly according to a DI Weekly article dated 1963 that was recently reviewed by the DI team at the CIA Declassification Center. The Cuban trainers gave bad evaluations to communist students from Peru, observing they were "too nearsighted and needed glasses, timid by nature, resistant to doctrine, or ... they prayed at night." This is a record.
