Dear Mr. Vance:
This is a final response to your undated Freedom of Information Act (FOIA)
request, postmarked 26 December 2012, received in the office of the Information and
Privacy Coordinator on 3 January 2013, for "a directory or index of all cryptonym's [sic]
of unclassified CIA projects/programs and assets. Specifically during the time period
of 1960 to 1970."
The FOIA was enacted to provide a means for the general public to access
government records. Under the provisions of the FOIA, federal agencies are not required
to perform research, answer questions, create records, or conduct unreasonable searches
through a body of material to see if any of it is related to a particular request. Therefore,
we must decline your request.
