Dear Mr. Leopold:
On 25 June 2014, the office of the Information and Privacy Coordinator received
your 23 June 2014 Freedom of Information Act request for all records relating or
referring to "Devil Eyes." You advised that the CIA acknowledged the existence of
the Devil Eyes project in on the record comments an agency spokesperson made to
the Washington Post. We have assigned your request the reference number above.
Please use this number when corresponding so that we can identify it easily.
We are currently processing a request for the same records from another requester.
Once our research and review of that request are completed, we will forward to you the
same CIA-originated records, if released. In accordance with our regulation, as a matter of
administrative discretion, the Agency has waived the fees for this request because we
believe the fees will be minimal. We have a substantial backlog, which we are working
diligently to reduce, so we are unable to estimate when we will complete our review.
However, we will notify you once the processing of the original request is complete.
