LeCNAEL W. SHEEHY. oEmoolAyie COUNSEL
We are going to hold a hearing on the post-September 11th posture of intelligence
analysis and production to support the ongoing effort in the war on terrorism. In particular,
we would like to have each agency present how it has re-structured its intelligence analysis
and production to support the ongoing effort, intelligence gaps that exist in that effort, and the
consequences to normal intelligence analysis and production that have resulted from the
current shift in priorities.
We would like to have Ms. Ellen Laipson, Acting Assistant Director of Central
Intelligence for Analysis and Production; Mr. John McLaughlin, Deputy Director of Central
Intelligence; LtGen James Clapper (USAF, Ret.), Director, National Imagery and Mapping
Agency; LtGen Michael Hayden, Director, National Security Agency; VADM Tom Wilson,
Director, Defense Intelligence Agency; and BG Keith B. Alexander, Commander, U.S. Army
Intelligence and Security Command each provide to the Committee a brief presentation
outlining analytic strength and weaknesses and those areas that require additional resources to
ensure the community can cover all its demands and surging requirements. The hearing will
be closed and held in Room 11-405 in the Capitol from 2:30 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. on November
14, 2001.
We ask that Ms. Ellen Laipson's statement be limited to 15 minutes and each
subsequent opening statement be kept to less than five minutes. In accordance with
Committee rules, written statements should be submitted no later than noon on November 13,
2001. Questions regarding this hearing may be directed to Ms. Michele Lang or Mr. John
