Abducted American Woman Held by Argentine Police
The 19-year-old daughter of an American Mennonite
missionary who was abducted from her home in Buenos Aires on
13 September has now been located. (See the 21 September
issue, page A-1.) A U.S. embassy spokesman informed the
press that she has been released by her kidnappers but is

now being held by Argentine police. The kidnappers were not
identified, and as the victim reportedly was involved with
the People's Revolutionary Army (ERP) she may have been
kidnapped with the knowledge of the police, or by rightwing
terrorists who have been harassina both foreign and local
leftists.
