Dear Ms. Phillips:
This is in response to your 23 December 2013 letter (enclosed at Tab A) in which you
referred one document originated by the National Security Agency for our review and response to
you. Specifically, we refer to the 30 October 2013 Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) request of
John Greenewald, submitted on behalf of The Black Vault, for the Intellipedia entry for Benghazi.
We determined that there is CIA information in the document that must be withheld.
Deletions were made on the basis of FOIA exemptions (b)(1) and/or (b)(3). Exemption (b)(3)
pertains to information exempt from disclosure by statute. The relevant statute is the Central
Intelligence Agency Act of 1949, 50 U.S.C. � 403g, as amended, e.g., Section 6, which exempts
from the disclosure requirement information pertaining to the organization, functions, including
those related to the protection of intelligence sources and methods. A marked copy of the
document is enclosed at Tab B.
