SUBJECT: Telephone Interview with Miss Karen Waggoner--Eugene (Oregon) Register Guard
At about 3:30 p.m. on Friday, February 17, I received a call from
Donald M. DuShane, Dean of Students, University of Oregon. He dis-
cussed a number of items. Among those that he mentioned was a re-
cent interview with Miss Waggoner, a reporter for the Eugene Register
Guard. Shortly after the call from Dean DuShane, I received a call
from Miss Karen Waggoner.
Miss Waggoner asked whether we regularly visited the University of
Oregon campus for the purpose of recruiting students. I replied that
we did. Miss Waggoner also asked about the academic disciplines that
were of interest to us. I used the list in our current recruitment
brochure (page 11). She inquired as to the number of seniors and
graduate students whom I saw on the campus each year. I explained
that I probably saw 70-100 University of Oregon students in a twelve
month period. Miss Waggoner wanted to know what my position was with
the Agency. i told her that I was a regional personnel representative.
The reporter asked about the number of students hired from among those
we interviewed. I told her that we hired a fraction of those whom we "
saw, giving no exact numbers. Miss Waggoner inquired whether I con-
sidered the U of Oregon a good source for qualified individuals. I
replied that I did. She also asked about the number of universities
and colleges that I visited. I said that I visited a number in four
or five states. Miss Waggoner wanted to know when my next trip to the
U of Oregon was scheduled this academic year. I explained I had been
to the campus on February 7, 8, and 9, and did not have any trips plan-
ned at the present time. At the conclusion, Miss Waggoner thanked me
for my help.
Throughout the discussion) Miss Waggoner was polite and diplomatic.
She did not press for information beyond the subject of personnel
recruitment.
