This report is one in a series on Soviet Ground Force and Logistic
installations being prepared for a DIA/CIA Panel. The series is being
coordinated, published and disseminated by NPIC. The photographic
analysis is being performed by the NPIC Photographic Analysis Group,
the CIA Photographic Intelligence Division (NPIC), and the Production
Center 1Plc (DIA). The photographic analysis for this particular re-
port was performed by the Production Center 1Plc.
In the interest of uniformity, the titles and letter designators for
the facilities observed at these installations are identical with those
appearing in the project requirement. When a specific facility is not
observed both its title and letter designator are omitted in the report.
Titles and letter designators for the various facilities are as
follows: (A) railroad service, (B) road service, (C) landing strips,
(D) administrative and troop housing areas, (E) storage areas, (F) am-
munition storage areas, (G) POL storage areas, (II) other buildings and
facilities, (J) equipment storage/maintenance areas, (K) athletic fields,
(L) small arms firing ranges, (M) driver training areas, (N) tank/
assault gun firing ranges, (P) flat trajectory firing ranges, (Q) artillery
emplacements (batteries), (R) infantry or combined arms field train-
ing areas or courses, (S) special training facilities, (T) unidentified
facilities or tracking activity.

Zolochev Army Barracks is located in the
center of Zolochev northeast of the rail line
(Figure 1). l'he installation (Figures 2 and 3)
is comprised of three separately secured areas:
a barracks and motor pool area (Dl and J2), a
barracks and storage area (D2, El and L2), and
a motor pool and driver training area (J1 and
M).
The barracks and motor pool area contains
eight multistory barracks, 13 dependents quar-
ters, one administration building, two motor
vehicle maintenance buildings, one motor vehicle
storage building, three support buildings, a guard
hut, a water tower and open storage. The bar-
racks and storage area contains four multistory
barracks, two multistory administration build
ings, 18 storage buildings, a possible theater or
gymnasium, 29 small support/storage buildings,
and a small-arms range. The motor pool and
driver training area contains three motor ve-
hicle storage buildings, two support buildings,
and driver training courses.
The installation is connected with the city
of Zolochev by good all-weather roads. No rail
or airfield facilities were noted. The installa-
tion was covered by eight KEYHOLE missions
between

Administrative and Troop Housing Areas
Area Dl contains eight multistory barracks,
13 dependents quarters, and one administration
building.
Area D 2 contains one multistory U-shaped
barracks and three multistory barracks.
motor vehicle storage buildings, and two sup-
port buildings.
Area J2 contains one 230- by90-footmotor
vehicle maintenance building, one 120- by 40-
foot maintenance building, one 70- by 40-foot
storage building, three support buildings, one
guard hut, one possible water tower, and six
to eight piles of open storage.
Area J3 contains five rows of probable
vehicles parked in a secured area.
General Storage Areas
Area El contains eight storage buildings.
Area L2 contains 10 storage buildings, two
multistory administration buildings, one possi-
ble theater or gymnasium, and 29 smaller sup-
port/storage buildings.
Area J1 contains three 310- by 55-foot
Area L is a 410- by 75-foot small-arms
range with earth sides.
Driver Training Area
Area M is a driver training area with three
figure-8 courses and an irregularly shaped
driver track.
