This report is one in a series on Soviet Ground Force and Logistic
installations being prepared for a DIA/CIA Panel. The series is being
coordinated, published and disseminated by NPIC. The photographic
analysis is being performed by the NPIC Photographic Analysis Group,
the CIA Photographic Intelligence Division (NPIC), and the Production
Center iPlc (DIA). The photographic analysis for this particular re-
port was performed by the Production Center 1Plc.
In the interest of uniformity, the titles and letter designators for
the facilities observed at those installations are identical with those
appearing in the project requirement. When a specific facility is not
observed both its title and letter designator are omitted in the report.
Titles and letter designators for the various facilities are as
follows: (A) railroad service, (B) road service, (C) landing strips,
(D) administrative and troop housing areas, (Ti) storage areas, (F) am-
munition storage areas, (G) POL storage areas, (II) other buildings and
facilities, (J) equipment storage/maintenance areas, (K) athletic fields,
(L) small arms firing ranges, (M) driver training areas, (N) tank/
assault gun firing ranges, (P) flat trajectory firing ranges, (Q) artillery
emplacements (batteries), (R) infantry or combined arms field train-
ing areas or courses, (S) special training facilities, (T) unidentified
facilities or tracking activity.

This ammunition and storage area is lo-
cated approximately 4 kilometers northwest of
the center of Daugavpils (Figure 1). Each
facility has a single fence. Together they cover
approximately 145 acres and contain 5 adminis-
tration buildings, 56 storage buildings, 6 revetted
ammunition storage buildings, and 17 support
buildings (Figures 2 and 3).

Railroad Service
Five single track spurs serve the facilities
from Daugavpils.
Road Service
Dirt roads from Daugavpils run throughout
the facilities.
General Storage Areas
Area El (Figure 3) contains 3 single-story
support buildings and 8 storage buildings. The
referenced SIC report indicates that this is a
probable protective clothing area.
Area E2 contains 3 single-story adminis-
tration, 35 single-story storage, and 7 single-
story support buildings.

Ammunition Storage Area
Area F contains 6 revetted, single-story
storage buildings, 1 single-story support build-
ing, and 1 single-story storage building. The
referenced SIC report indicates that this is a
possibl storage site.
Other Buildings
Area H contains 12 single-story storage, 6
single-story support, and 2 single- story admin-
istration buildings.
