This report is one in a series on Soviet Ground Force and Logistic
installations being prepared for a DIA/CIA Panel. The series is being
coordinated, published and disseminated
the NPIC Photographic Analysis Group,
analysis is being performed by
the CIA Photographic Intelligence Division (NPIC), and the Production
Center IP la (DIA). The photographic analysis for this particular re-
port was performed by the Production Center 1Pla.
In the interest of uniformity, the titles and letter designators for
the facilities observed at these installations are identical with those
appearing in the project requirement. When a specific facility is not
observed both its title and letter designator are omitted in the report.
Titles and letter designators for the various facilities are as
follows: (A) railroad service, (B) road service, (C) landing strips,
(D) administrative and troop housing areas, (E) storage areas, (F) am-
munition storage areas, (G) POL storage areas, (H) other buildings and
facilities, (J) equipment storage/ maintenance areas, (K) athletic fields,
(L) small arms firing ranges, (M) driver training areas, (N) tank/
assault gun firing ranges, (P) flat trajectory firing ranges, (Q) artillery
emplacements (batteries), (R) infantry or combined arms field train-
ing areas or courses, (S) special training facilities, (T) unidentified
facilities or tracking activity.

This installation is located in Ordzhoni-
kidze, adjacent to the west bank of the Terek
River and approximately 4 km south of the
railroad station (Figure 1). Covering an area
of 164 acres, it contains 2 U-shaped administra-
tion buildings, a multistory barracks/adminis-
tration building with 7 wings, 16 multistory bar-
racks, 4 single-story barracks, 5 probable of-
ficers quarters, 21 support buildings, a heating 10
plant, and 3 probable vehicle maintenance sheds
(Figures 2 and 3).
_ KEYHOLE missions covered this in-
stallation between A 25X1 D
comparison of the photography reveals no sig-
nificant changes.
DESCRIPTION OF INSTALLATION
Road Service
The installation has access to all roads in
Ordzhonikidze.
officers quarters, 17 support buildings, and a
heating plant.
Administrative and Troop Housing Area
Area D contains 2 U-shaped administra-
tion buildings, 1 multistory barracks/adminis-
tration building with 7 wings, 16 multistory
barracks, 4 single-story barracks, 5 probable
Equipment Storage/ Maintenance Area
Area J contains 3 probable maintenance
sheds and 4 support buildings.
Athletic Field
Area K is an athletic field.
