This memorandum is in response to the referenced requirement concerning a study on the status of construction of the rail line between Yen-hu (43 33N - 87 58E) and the Sino Soviet Border at (45 09N - 82 32E)- 2. This study is based on Photographic missions, respectively, which provide complete, good quality, photographic coverage from Yen-hu to the Sino-Soviet 3. The rail line is complete from Yen-hu to Urumchi (43 45N - 87 36E). Rolling stock is visible in a small rail yard at Urumchi (See Annotation 3 Enclosure 4). The rail line from Urumchi to the Sino-Soviet Border appears to be in the early stages of construction, however comparative coverage 25X1 D indicated that there was no construction activity during this period. 4. The road from Yen-hu to Sino-Soviet Border parallels the rail line and is a two lane graded all weather road. 25X1A 5. The photo analyst assigned to this project was who may be contacted on extension 2546 should there be VPJPer questions regarding this study.
