There was also sporadic artillery fire in Beirut. The basic stumbling block at this oi t p n to reaching an agreement to allow the Lebanese troops to move into the UN zone is the future of Major Haddad, the leader of the militia- men. Haddad yesterday announced a 24-hour halt to his force's sporadic artillery shelling of the area occupied by Army troops. According to preliminary reports, Lebanese President arcis an Syrian For M' major agreements duringgtheir1dis i m 1 cuss ons on Thursday. On Thursday night, the Syrians briefly shelled Chris- tian sectors of Beirut in response to Christian sniper attacks. There was more shelling yesterday, and a few rounds, appently fired by the Christians landed in Muslim sectors of the city.
