a verbal agreement vith.tha ouzaer of the factory fir a 6-month contract lasti~v,
from 1 Alarch to the erg of August 19$9. Fearing impeniing :unemployment, in late
May the masons demanded that i:hey be hired permanently or their work period sztended
beyond the 6-month period, ThP owner refused this proposal. Ccrsaquertly, the two
parties dc~~ided to submit the.llai:i+a to the T"ien-chine Labor Bureau e~ to reach an
amicable settlement in accordance with its dac~slon.
