At the beginning of 1949, the UFA Motion Picture Studio in Babelsberg,
the Tobis Moticn Picture Studio in Berlin-Jobannisthal, and the Afifa Color
Film Laboratories in Berlin-Koepenick were merged into the Linse-AG ryens,

turned over to the German Democratic Republic. Ownership of the UFA studio
alone has added approximately 15 million Deutsche marks to the national
capital of the German Democratic Republic.
The UFA studio has a production capacity of 20 films per year. While it
was under USSR control, its director-general was Wikbacheff (fnu), a former
director of the Len-Film Studios in the Soviet Union, The studio was equipped
with the most up-to-date USSR apparatus, valued at 12 million Deutsche marks,
which also has passed into East German hands.
