THIS IS UNEVALUATED INFORMATION
After the arrest of a number of high-plsced persons in the administration
of VEB Carl Zeiss, Jena, Z an official of DIA, Sauer (fnu), came to the
plant for the purpose of carryinv out certain changes in its adii..nistration.
At first he advocated a plan to place the entire sales department of the
plant directly under DIA, so that export of all products would in the future
be handled by DIA; Zeiss, Jena, would thus have been unable to sell
directly to customers abroad.. This plan, however, was dropped, Zeiss was
allowed to maintain its sales organization (Vertriebsapparat). However,
a DIA representative will be permanently attached to Zeiss for the purpose
of sunervisinp all exports, including the exports to the USSR and Soviet
satellites, The name of this person is not yet known; possibly Sauer will
be the DlA representative at Zeiss.
