(FOR KEY SEE REVERSE) The bay south of the village of Pomorie offers a fair shelter from the winds coming from the first quadrant. 5. As shown in the sketch on page 2, there is in ecistence a wooden pier approxi- mately 120 meters long, four meters widen and 2.5 meters high. The depth of the water along the pier is two to three meters. The pier is equipped with a small hand-operated crane. 6. There is a railroad station served by a single-track line. The line goes only to the end of the pier and does not actually go out on the pier. The railroad service had been suspended because the line had been made impassible by the ice. 7? The only local activity is the manufacture and shipping of salt. The Pomorie semaphore consists of a building surmounted by a glassed-in observa- tion post and signal mast. The semaphore does not appear to be equipped with any electronics equipment (radio or radar). 9. No naval units were observed at this location. 10. The following is a aketch of the Pomorie harbor: Semaphore Nesebur 11. This is a small port, but fairly wide, which is under construction. The elbow- shaped mole extends for over 100 meters and it appears that it is to be extended further. It also appears that there are plans to fill in and make a quay of the hollow as indicated in the sketch of the area shown on page 3. In the area between the pier and the shore, one can stay at the helm. In fact, with a "Greek wind," one should stay at the helm. 13. The harbor floor consists of sand and shells. 14. The mole has the dimensions indicated in the sketch on page 3. There are no cranes. 15. There is also a small wooden pier in the military zone. 16. An extensive military zone enclosed by a barbed wire fence is located west of 25X1 Nesebur village. No naval units were noted in the port at Neseburd-only some fishing boats. 18. No semaphore, radio, or radar statiore were in evidence. 19. There is a mail boat service between Nesebur, Pomorie, and Burgas. The road is the typical country type and does not have an asphalt surface. A new masonry bridge was noted in the vicinity of Burgas. 25X1 Burgas Mard 22. This shipyard is poorly equipped and mainly carries out repairs of small metal ships, lighters, scows, etc. It has three dry docks tons, about 50 meters lone. 23? The shipyard is also equipped with a small but efficient workshop with lathes., milling machinery, etc. 2J.. The workers work with care, but slowly. 25.
