1. Kolobrzeg (Kolberg') harbor continues to be closed for all foreign vessels.
Only a few Polish merchant vessels call at the harbor. These unload building
materials, which are used for work in progress in the harbor. 25X1
2. Dredging work was begun in the harbor and in the fairway during the fall of
1953. This work was interrupted for two months, due to ice, but has been taken
up again. The dredging work is proceeding from the entrance of the harbor
to the estuary in the harbor of the Persante River. At present, the depth
in the harbor canal varies, but it will; be dredged to a depth of eight to nine
meters. The depth in the harbor basins will be maintained at six meters.
3. The following vessels are engaged-in the dredging work:
a. SKARPA - a large dredger.
b. WOJTEK - a small dredger.
c. FELIKS - a 500 hp tug.
d. A number of dredging and sand lighters.
I+. Two Soviet motor torpedo boats are based at Kolobrzeg. The WOP (Military Border Guard)
has tWo seagoing motor boats based in the.harbor. These carry out patrol duty
beyond the adjoining stretch of the coast.
