1. The Jarocin Machine Manufacturing Plant (Jarocinski?Zaklady Przemyslu 25X1
Naszynowego) is located in Jarocin, approximately 60 kilometers south-
east of Poznan. The-plant is located.in.the southern part of Jarocin,
on the south side of the highway leading to Kalisz and Ostrow. About
300 meters southwest of the. plant the Jarocin-Ostrow railroad line passes,
from which a spur line leads into the plant. 25X1
2. In the past, the plant manufactured machines for the heavy industry,
especially woodworking machinery. As a result of the Six-Year Plan, pro-
duction~was:geared to mili.tar needs tanks and engines for tanks. Most
of the maehihery was -suppliedthrough Soviet-German commer- 25X1
vial firms in East Germany.
3. The plant covers an-area of approximately 3,000 square meters, and is
surrounded by a fence: 2,:60 meters high. The main buildings are as follows:
a. Masonry building,. headquarters of the military guard,
e. Two-story building in which is located.a secret shop constructing a
new type of tank:.
1. Mechanical and repair shop, made up of four or five different buildings,
and employing about 350 workers.
e. Four assembly rooms, all having the same dimensions, 250 by 60 meters, 15
meters high, They adjoin one another and are crossed by a standard-gauge
track.

'"plant also turned out armored trucks, but production of these trucks was suspended
"at the beginning of 1953. According to the production schedule, 12 complete tanks
should be turned out every ;: three, days; however, at present the production schedule
is down to 10 tanks for every three days. They are of the T-34 type with g5-milli-
meter guns, in addition to"the mass production of this type of tank, other tanks
are also constructed and shipped out by rail to unknown military destinations.

This particular plant does not manufacture parts for tanks, which are shipped in
from other plants. What is done here is to assemble the component parts and to add
the engines and the armored turrets constructed in the plant.
The plant is guarded by a group .of 60 guards. Both the interior and the immediate
surroundings of the plant are under constant patrol. As a general rule, the road
leading to the plant is closed to traffic.
