1. The ultra-short-wave radio system was activated after 15 December 1954 to
control patrol cars on the x utobahn and elsewhere from Potsdam. The
Beelitz radio operations office provided. a receiving station with an
antenna for this system. The receivin,; station operated in a completely
automatic mariner, maintenance service bein;; provided from Potsdam. 25X1
The Boeliv-z radio operations office had no control over this
installation.
In October 1954, a radio mast, about 45 meters hi,:,-h, was set up
in the y,-rd of the Potsdam police headquarters on 13rauhof Strasse. An
ultra-s!iort-wave antenna, which had the shape of a circular metal
tube, was mounted on the mast. The antenna alle,;edly belcn~-,;ed to a
r_dio telephone system whose installation in the police headquarters
buildinL was in prodresa. It was alle;edly planned to equip the VP
with radio cars to be coutro:led by meads of the transmitti%, station
in the area of the police headquarters. 1

:.le ultra-snort-wave traffic radio sets manufactured at the Dresden
radio equipment factory which have a tranamittinj- 1.,ouer of 10 +wdtts
and whose frequencies range from 31.7 to 40.1 and 70.0 to 87.5
megacycles per second.
