Among, the departments of the Hungarian enterprise TRE'ddSl+Clti~:,~1~OR in BUDAPEST, there is a speoial section ~rorking on high voltages iow current generating equipment. The more important types at present being designed in this section are cascade generators, impulse generators and statically excited high-voltage generating equipment. C~'>S CADS GENERAT CRS I. Z A number of cascade generators has been produced in the last few years. These are destined fbr the Hungarian Nuclear kesearch Institute on the SCII;~:1^~3I1tiBERG (CSII,LEBERC~ near BUDl",I'~ST, The sto.,ndard type of cascade generator is required. to Y~ave a capacity of 800 KV at currents aver~.ging 10, 15 or 20 milliamperes working from a mains supply of 500 Herz. generators are constructed in double units with a central zero Garth) point, enabling the two units to be used either in series or in par'~.llel. 'v.hen the Pduolear Institute warned by TR",IdSFOR":."`:TOR the ~ there w^s ~~ danger of resonance effects if the units were connected in parallel, t-~ro sp::cial. requirements should be satisfied, viz: (a) the dimensions of the generators should be kept as small as possible. (b) the undulation (hetexrodyne~ of the high tension output must be below 0.5 per cent and if possible not i:lore than 0.25 p;;r cent.
