It accordingly constructed light, speedy units of limited draft designed for effective control of the Adriatic, and also suitable for navigation along the indented Dalma- tian coastline. The regime also concerned itself with securing territorial defense by control ofL7th9navigable rivers6he Danube, the Sava, and the Drava, as well as Lakes Ohrid and Prespa (located on the borders of Albania and Greece), for which purpose it created a special branch of the navy. The general command of the Yugoslav navy, whose headquarters are located at Spalatcy like the other armed services, comes under a single ministry of the government in Belgrade, namely, the MINI- 48TARSTVO NARODNE ?BRAKE, or the Ministry of Defense. The General Headquarters of the Navy are located in a 5-story building on Riva Saveznicka Obala, north of the city and about one kilometer from President Tito's summer residence.
