In Lay 1949 a questionnaire was received by the GSM, which covered nearly all aspects of the manufacture of metal ceramic tubes. Special emphasis was placed on the sealing of the tubes. The questions seemed to indicate that the Russians had not made much pro~resa in their manufacture. At the same time, it was heard in the LS;l that Dr. Richter, a specialist in metal ceremics, was in Novosibirsk. 3. In May 1949, an order was received at the iiSa for 120 of each of the following: LD6, LD'7, LD9, and LD12. All were to be delivered to the USSR, these tubes were being made to a higher standard m e USSFi,, although omission was not entirely satisfactory, the USSR. Manufacture was then stopped The 5 D 21 and 829 B are two tubes used in conjunction in one of the standard German airborne radar sets. In December 1948, 2,000 of each were manufactured in the O1~1 to a strict specification for delivery to 5. In May 1949 an urgent order for three thousand 5 D 21 and two thousand 829 B tubes was received by the The factory manage~:,ent complained that they would be unable to complete this order because of a lack of molybdenuii foil for the former, and nickel wire for the latter. The Russians said that the order was very urgent, and-that they would provide some. They have not done so, but the factory itself has managed to obtain some molybdenum foil and the work on the order for 3 D 50X1-HUM 21 is continuing.
