A list of shipments made in the interest of the Soviet Union in August 1949 and registered at the German Railroad -Adminis- tration in Berlin 3, is attached. Comment: a0 according to the list 169834 tons of hard coal and 31,134 tons of brown Coalalso left for the Last in August 1949. There is a critical Shortage of hard coal in the Soviet Zone of Germany. Constant attempts are made to relieve this shortage by comnercial featies with roland and Czechoslovakia and by the interzonal trade with iiestern Germany. Also; the soviet Zone requireqents for brown coal, extensively used as a hard coal substitute in railroad traffic, are only barely covered. b.
