? A list of shipments made in the interest of the Soviet Union
in August 1949 and registered at the German Railroad -Adminis-
tration in Berlin 3, is attached.
Comment:
a0 according to the list 169834 tons
of hard coal and 31,134 tons of brown Coalalso left for the
Last in August 1949. There is a critical Shortage of hard
coal in the Soviet Zone of Germany. Constant attempts are
made to relieve this shortage by comnercial featies with
roland and Czechoslovakia and by the interzonal trade with
iiestern Germany. Also; the soviet Zone requireqents for
brown coal, extensively used as a hard coal substitute in
railroad traffic, are only barely covered.
b. The gasoline exports of 8,564 tons and the tar oil ex.
ports of 1,704 tons were arranged via the railroad junction-
Grosskorbetha 52/D 90) by the Casoline.6oviet Corporation
Plant in Zeitz-Troeglitz GI 52/K 08),by the Toplivo Soviet
Corporation Plant in Boehlen (N 52/2, 50) and by the Aneralnye
udobreniya soviet Corporation Plant in Leuna G.: 52/1) 91).
