Deposits of wood (logs and boards), cement in bags, and iron rods of various sires have been noted in the area. Both the area overlooking the sea and the area in the interior are surrounded by a fence of barbed wire. Opinions differ as to the nature and purpose of the work in progress, but it seems that underground depots are being built. Similar work is also in progress at CIGALE. The waters around CHERSO and LUSSINO seem to be free of mines, since vessels of the navy pass by there freely. 2) Miscellaneous a) As a result of the reorganization of the civilian administration by the central authorities, the 14 Urban People's Committees on the islands of CHERSO and LUSSINO have been reduced to three, viz.: - CHERSO, which includes VALONA, SAN MARTINO, DELI, ORLEC, and DRAGOCETIC. - LUSSINO, which includes LUSSIMPICCOLO, SANSEGO, UNIE, XX SAN PIETRO, and PUNTACROCE. OSSERO, with NERESINE, BELLEI, and neighboring localities. b) It is said that Cominformist propaganda placards were found at the then Urban People's Committee in November 1951. c) The motor-sailboat TINIA, under construction at the CHERSO shipyard, is not yet completed. d) The construction of the CHERSO-LUSSINO acqueduct is continuing. e) A power plate to utilise water from Lake VRANA has been planned. A part of it is used for storage of imported products: coconut oil, lard, lubricants, etc. The other part of the warehouse is used for storage of material to be exported, consisting of nonferrous ores. Overflow material is stored in open depots near the warehouse, surrounded by barbed wire. b) Warehouse No 3: This is a one-story building immediately adjacent to the administration building. It contains lead and copper 1' 50X1-HUM in ingots, for export j Additional material of the same king is stored in open depots surrounded by barbed wire, at various places in gq the port. c) Warehouse No 7: Located in a group of depots behind the building of the administration. It contains lubricants, steel wire, and various imported iron and steel products. Warehouse No 8, belonging to the "ISTRAVINO" Enterprise, is located in the same group of depots; large quantities of wine and alcohol for export are stored there. d) Warehouses 18-19: These consist of two one-story buildings, each about 150-200 meters long, on the "ZAGREB" Embankment (formerly "NAPOLI" Mole). They contain the following imported material: cotton, wool, rags in bales, crude rubber in quintal blocks (several thousand tons). Fresh fruit for export is also stored in these warehouses. e) Warehouses 20-21: These consist of two buildings, each about 150-200 meters long, located behind Warehouses 18-19 and giving the appearance of a single building. Details are lacking. g) Silo: This is a three-story building in the immediate vicinity of the "LOLA RIBAR" (formerly "GENOVA") Mole. It is served by its own railroad siding. Railroad cars are unloaded by special elevators while the ships are loaded by special tubes. It is not possible to determine the number of workers employed by the Administration; the number is constantly diminishing because of poor economic treatment and the hard work. d) Miscellaneous February 1952 Maritime Agency (POMORSKA AGENCIJA) . FIUME Located in KERSOVANOV KEJ Street, on the first floor of the same building which houses the Administration of the Merchant Marine. This agency handles all business matters for Yugoslav and foreign ships. K February 1952 "JUGO IONTROL" (SOCIETE SURVEILLANCE, GENEVE, FIUME BELGRADE Agency) This is a branch office located in DOSITEJ Street No 1. At the barracks, which is about 100 meters from the river bank, there are about 20 men assigned to. the river navigation guard service.
