42.) These photographs were taken at the dedication of the new Irafoss
43.) underground hydroelectric plant located about 31 miles east and
upriver from Reykjavik. The President of Iceland can be seen in
photograph number 42 standing in front of doorway looking toward the
camera. In number 43, the President of Iceland is in his car. In
the background of photograph number 43 is seen a 4,000 KVA transformer
which is an old unit.
44. Seine nets across Sogs River to catch female salmon. This is a
government project in which roe is milked from the female salmon
for the hatcheries and the salmon are then put back in the river.

Note the emblem on the bow which resembles a swastika. It is legend in
Iceland that Hitler tried to buy this monogram from Iceland and was
refused. He consequently stole the emblem and developed the swastika
in which the tips turn the other way.
