A Safety Group officer attended a meeting of the Metropolitan Washington Fire Prevention Officers Subcommittee at the Andrews Air Force Base. Two Safety Group officers at- tended the monthly meeting of the Washington Metropolitan Chapter, Field Federal Safety Council. (U) 2. Plans and preparations are under way for the up- coming Basic Safety and Health Course to be presented 12-16 January (U) 3. On 22 December, a technical security officer presented a special briefing for the Director of Security, Department of Justice, and his deputy on the hostile audio threat. Special emphasis was placed on the domestic aspects of the threat. (C) 4. On 22 December 1980, a final inspection was conducted of the new office s aces for the DDO/FOIA group which are located in Virginia. The inspection-estab- lished that the required security modifications had been completed, including the installation of an alarm system, so that the offices could be certified for the storage of classified information. Open-shelf storage of SECRET collateral material is authorized within a vault-type room which itself is located entirely inside a larger VTR. The larger VTR has been approved for the closed storage of TOP SECRET and Sensitive Compartmented Information. 25 5. Construction continues though the inclement weather has caused somewhat o a slowdown in pace of construction. As a result o e meeting, 0 will 25X1 provide additional nonduty-hour supervisory checks and we will speed up the clearance processing of new guard candidates in order to be in a position to replace any guards who are not measuring up 25X1 to our standards of performance.
