This memorandum concerns the development of a plan for the coordination
of biographic intelligence as outlined in NIA Directive No. 7 and CIG
Directives #16 and 18. This memorandum calls for the coordination of

1. It will be recalled Uat CIO Directive No. 26, as approved by
the Director of Central Intolligonce and the Intolligonce Advisory board,
wan issued as of Tdovoi bor 1' 1916 to provide a plan for the coordination
of biographic intolligonoo.
2. NTA Directive No. 7 was like+wica issued on January 21, 3,947 to
provide a plan for the coordination of collection activities. CIO Dir-
cotiver No. 18 was issued under date of January 23a 1947 as an impl nts
tion of NIA Directive No. 7.
3. The Director of Central Intelligence and pertinent sections of
GIG have followed with interest the im, 1c nontation of these pregr t.
CIO rcproscntctives have viattod nearby diplomatic eotablishwnts to
dotormine the adequacy of the field imp1o- ontation of the basic diroo--
tivoaa and their supporting departmental directives.
