SUBJECT: Levinson Leadership Seminar
1. The next running of the Levinson Leadership Seminar (for
SIS 1/4) will be 6-11 June. If we wish to nominate someone, we must do
so by 10 May 1982. We may not be successful in getting our candidate in
the seminar, but we will do what we can.
2. The course enjoys a good reputation with CIA and I have heard
favorable comments from some ICS attendees. Attached is a course
description. Our records indicate that the following ICS personnel have
attended the seminar:

3. Before we make selection of a candidate for the Levinson
Leadership Seminar an ICS Career Service Board (CSB) action, I believe
you and General Winne should determine whether you want to nominate one
of your office directors. If not, then we should include selection of a
candidate on the agenda for the April CSB meeting. Please let know how
you wish to proceed.

Course Description

This seminar is conducted by Dr. Harry Levinson and members
of the Levinson Institute, Cambridge, Massachusetts. It-provides
a framework for understanding and reacting to a wide variety of
employee and organizational problems. The objectives are to
offer participants insight into why individuals think, feel, and
behave as they do as well as to increase awareness of,one's own
motives and behavior.
Participants are asked to document personal work problems
which are used as case studies for team discussion. This seminar
also uses lectures, films, and discussion to examine executive
stress, the psycological contract, and separation and change.
This seminar is the most advanced program offered by CIA for
its senior managers and executives who are in positions of
managerial. as contrasted with staff, responsbility. It is held
at the
Special Requirements
Form 73, Request for Internal Training, accompanied by an
up-to-date biographic profile, is required. Each participant
must prepare a brief managerial case study as precourse work for
group discussion in the seminar.
