Abstract In 1955-1956 in Tyulyachinskiy Rayon, Tatarskaya ASSB,
the influence was studied of fertilizers superficially
applied on the grass variety-broraegrass meadow of the
Mesha River lowland. Fhosphate and potassium fertili-
zers applied even in increased dosage exerted no essen-
tial effect on the hay yield. Even a small dosage of ni-
trogen fertilizers (30 kg N per 1 Ha) increased the hay
yield by 33-35% in the year in which it was applied, and
by 90% with a dosage af 120 kg N per 1 ha. Superficial
application of nitrogen fertilizers, both mineral and or-
ganic, are recomended on the river-vallpy meadows of
