The reaction was conuucted at 10--15C with vigorous a~itation. There were no Flares oF explosions, Hydrogen fluoride formed in the reaction slowed down Fluorination and had to be bound with sodium Fluoride. The reaction products were ffluoroacetonitr[lem~di1uoroacetonitrile, N-Fluoro-l,1- d{ffluoroe~hyleni~ine, and N,N-di~uoro-l,l-diFluoroethylamine. TEXT: The authors describe a new method of determining the sonxc veloc:ty in dependence of the depth of the ocean, using the so-called "character- istic points". The ocean depth is divided into a certain number of layers. taking their physical and chemical characteristics into account. Each curve which characterizes the mutual dependence of son:c velocity ~nd Dzean depth is approximated by a broken line, where the dc/dz gradient is con- stant within each individual layer (c is the sonic veloc:ty, z is the ocean depth). The salient points of this curve are the characterlstlc points in the c-z plane, for which the mean depth and the son:c velocity are determined. By changing in tzme the curve c - c(z), a family of curves is obtained which describe the actual condxtions much better especially card APPROVED FOR RELEASE: 06/20/2000 CTA-RDP86-00513R001031510010-9" "APPROVED FOR RELEASE: 06/20/2000 C1'A-RDP86-00513R001031510010-9 86O38 Vertical Profile of Sound Propagation Velocity in the Ocean ~, ~, ,~/o~o/o~9 BO~9/B07? when there are sharp deviations o[ the
