TITLE: Determination of the true velocity gradient for flow of
structuralized plastic systems in a narrow annular space

TEXT: Certain regularities in the flow of liquids, partiaularly those not
conforming t~o Newton's law, are examined. An equation is derived expressing
the depender;ce of the true velocity gradient at a given shearing stress on
the average velocity gradient for the flow of structurhlized plastic
di~,~ersion ,;y stems in a narrow annular channel, when the width. of the
channel is small in comparison with the radius of the annulus. The movement
of grease ir,; a narrow annular channel, in an axial direction (under the
,effect of pressure) and in a circumferential direction {under the effect
of torsional moment) were examined experimentally. Applicability of the
abovemen�tioried equation to the flow of cup greases in a narrow annular
channel is confirmed experimentally. It ie indicated that this equation
