The average durability of both types of engines did not differ significantly; however, the maximum-service expectancy of the Tatra 111S engine proved much higher than that of the D12A engine. Service life depended on temperature variations of the surrounding air, increasing at higher temperatures and vice versa. Since the undercooling of engines during cold weather results in increased corrosion, their durability is determined by the corrosion rate cf their cylinder-piston group.. By stabilizing the optimum thermal conditions during the cold period. the durabili.ty of half of the diesels in operation can be increased Card 1 2 IMC: 621,431,73o620-169 1 ACC N.R; AP7006773 s o L;; ~ C j. It is known that the accuracy of the results obtained by means of the statistical simulation method is determined by the number of realizations of the random process. The use of the method proposed in this article makes it possible to exclude from the statistical simulation all the realizations which correspond to complete working order of all the components in a system, thus substantially accelerating the simulation proce5so The method proposed makes It possible to make full use of the advantages of the method if statistical simulation as well as the analytical method, and substantially Card 1/z t~; I NP-,P ; 143i'*.'
