TITLE, Oscillator strengths of spectral lines of wagnesium,, strontium and barium PERIODICAL., Optika i spektroskopiva, v.12, no,1, 1.96r-i.., 3-11 1lator strengths ofl3 line I series, of TEXT~. Osci 8 of principa. strontium and barium. were measured by means of-the method of hooks, The hooks in the vicinity of the lines-of principal series--of Srl and Bal weve photoSx-aphed using an Interfe-rometer assemblv previously described (Ref-5,, D,,S,_Rozhdest.venskiy., N,P.Penkin,. J, Phys, USSR, V-5)-ig4i, 319)~ The resulting-photographs were :-interpreted in the usual way used in the method~of h 'ooks, It wase-stablished that the probabilities of transition's in the pr-incipal -series of SrI and Ba_I_ are- changing unevenly -with the grow-th of the principal quantum numbers of the upper. levels. Spectra of CaI-and SrI had one maxinrium- each, while BaI had three, The actual expression in absolute terms of the.-f-numbers of the principal series of CaI, Srl and Bal was possible, since the 4lbsolute values of oscillator strengths of resonance. lines Card.1/3- _53636 S/051/62/01-9/001/001/020 Oscillator strensti-is of spectral E202/E492 So PI-) oC the elements of Group II were knqwn.i 0 s c il I .-J tL o rstrengths of the SrI and Bal--Iines appearing during 131111111-taneous excitation of two olectrons., i-,e, t.ransitions IIS2 - (n:- I,N-dmp were measured, The measurements showed. that for, BaI. the f-numbers change slowly with the change of the principal: quantum number in, The authors have also determined the f-numbers of the 14 lines of MgI -and 19 lines of Srl,, -trhic.h are present during the transltions-~, - 0 3 0 3 Po I19 S1 and P 0 1,2 D1 2,.3" PartIcular -attention-was gIven to a -critical comparison of the above f-numbers with those-obtained.by other authors~aiid by different methods, The general conclusions were as'follows, I) In CaI, SrI and BaI, the f--numbers of-the spectral lines appearing in transitions which differ-only wi-th,'respect-to the' prini~ipal quantum number, increase with-the incr'easing atomxc number. 2) in the atoms of magnesium, -calcium and strontium, there was a good agreement.between the experimental and theoretical gf values when the presence of the' L S -i.nterac-lion 11ras assuined. Filippov and I'T.V.Xre- menevskiy (Phys-Z.USSR,l,2qq,lq32)_and Yu. I. Ostrovskly and,I.P.Ikeenkin.(Opt. i spektrosk.,10,429,1961 and Tbid-,ll,565j96l). in the presenIt,.vork.the author detmined the oscillator strengths of the neutral calcium lines corresponding_ to 'is S,,--4smplP2 transitims with M w 7 through 17. Them~easurvments vere carried out on an interferametric set-up by the RozbdestvmskJLY method of hooks; the contin,11- source vas a deuterium discharge tube. In s=e cases to 25 spec- trograms vere photographed and averaged. The results (together vIth the date of Ostrovskiy and PenkIn for a 4#5 and 6) are tabulated.
