ABSTRACT: Growing Ge whiskers and the vapor -solid - liqu id (VI-S) mechanism
for Ge have been investigated. Transport reaction with -L C109Cd iOdide cycle in
apparatus producing Ge epitaxial layers was used, For the expf.--rirnent, till!
density of the iodine was changed from 0. 5 to 3 mg/cnO and the temporathirc was
varied. Ge whiskers with impurities of Au, Te, Di, and Pt were obtained, but
none were obtained with impurities of In, Zn, Sn, Ga, and Al. C(,-nditions for
obtaining filaments of Ge with gold impurities were studied in detail. WhIsAers

has more pronounced properties in comparison with molybdenum (VI). Howevorp

aqueous solutions utilizing ion exchango have not been previously fully
