TITLE2 Testing of the Optical Range Finder (GD~300) PERIODICALt Geodeziya i kartografiyaq 19600,mo. 6v ~i 14 23 TEXTt This is a report on tests of a model of the optical range finder rA-300 (GD-300) carried out by the Gidroproyekt UinU~t,erst~va stroitella'tva elektrostantsiy (GidroDrovekt of the Ministry for thmi~jConstructian of Electric Power Pli~ts) in the fall of 1959- It was do*elop~d on the baais of the range finder P04(GPI) with light modulation by,~~diffw'aetion (Ref., Footnote on p. 14). The levice consists ol an optical"block, a phase- measuring block, a current source, and a:refleotor (Oigo. 1,2). Fig. 3 shows a simplified scheme of the device. The device hms.aome advantages over other optical range finders. It has a light modulator:with some counter-ultrasonic transmitters and thephase comp ison is done by a separate phase detector (Fig. 3~. On account of theare)two charactoeristics, t ~i distances up to 7 km can be measured in bright sunshine, uP to 15 km in Card 1/3 Testingof the Optical Range Finder /00~ 60/000/06/04/025 -300 (GD-300) B00 yl':0005;~ P A dull weatherg and much longer distances at night..Thre4l..light.,modulation frequencies (10, 10.025, and 10.5 Uo/s) ate used for iplmge finding in this device. A Dne-sided optical telephone is used to otaint4in the connection to the operators of the reflector. The mode of operation oUthe device is explained. The following measurements were made during" the field tests of the devices 1 Measurement of the side of the "frame t~ianivvlation" ii- established,by the Gidroproyekt in 1955-1959 accordinX to the program~of the State triangulation of the 2nd. order (used for obporvino; the horizontal shifts of the Volzhakaya gidroelektrostantai a imp V. 1. Lonina (Volga Water Power Plant imeni V. I. Lenin))p and 2~ measuremiont of the side of the triangulation of the 2nd order established by the Gridrop~royekt in 1950- 1952 (Figs. 4#5). The data for estimating the accuracy~of measurament are given in Tables. To estimate the errors in longitudinal measurements, Tables 3 and 4 compare the sides measured by the optici~l range finder P,Q -300 (DD-300) with those obtained by triangulation' On I;he basis of the tests carried out, some recommendations are given to Uiprovo the construc- tion of the device. The teat results showed that the d~vice'is. well suited for the establishment of a network of topographic suxveys in the planning of large hydraulic constructions. The synthesis of compolands of siinilar'ti~b:ruct-ure takes place in several ste2a and offers sinall yields (Refs 2-4). As the orientation in the halogenetion (aspe'011ally.bromination) in similar molecules in not aufliciently explained the working out of the bromination of the aubstituted P-;,phenyl-ethyl amine is of certain importance to obtain the:'neced Isary bromine deri- vatives. Some chemists showed that fron euganol, isoeugenol, and olivine (Refs 5-8) 5-bromine-containing Iderivatives could be obtained, whereas from creosol (Ref6.91 lo) and homovanillic acid (nef 11) as well as from dimethox~, dibenzyloxy, and Card 1/2 other derivatives 6-bromine isomers are forined (Refs 12-18). Synthesis of Bromine-Substituted O-Phenyl-Ethyl Amino 10 BOY/79-28-12-36/41 It may be concluded therefrom that in tfie bro'mination the positions C and C. are probable. In ca~,rying out the reaction 5 without solvents a mixture of these isoders nA a small amount of the dibromine product were formed. Comyoun ,4(1) in practi- cally pure state is obtained by the brom1nat16.n of compound (II) in acetic aoid solutionp as well as'1)y the reduction of the compound (III) with aluminum-lithium h~drida (Scheme i). It was shown that the bromination of the"~acid, sulfate of 0-(3-methoxY,-4-oxy-phenyl)-ethyl. amine leads to the 6-bromine isomer. The hitherto unknown P-(394-dimethozy-6-bromo-i>henyl)- ethyl amine and 3-bromo tyramine (XII) wore synthesized an well. There are 23 references, 3 of vhicb~are'Soviet. T, 1966, 48-5o TOPIC TAGS; electric power engineering, electric power plant,'turboprop engine ABSTRACT: The authors discuss the advantages of using discardc'd aviation turbine en- gines for generating power in Industrial plants, transport an&in various branches of the petroleum industry. Units using aviation turbine engines could be made for variou power requirements varying from several hundred to several thousand kilowatt output. The authors describe a successful attempt to set up such a unit in the Soviet Union in 1965. This unit utilized an AI-20 turboprop engine in conjunction with an SGN-111-49-6 1000 kv synchronous generator.\OThis generating plant was equil ed with an automatic pp control which ensured its starting, controlled its fuel and oil supply and handled emergencies. The AI-20 turboprop engine is capable of running on various fuels. It was found that it could be operated on diesel fuel and natural, gas if the natural gas lift 9111 was compressed to 10 atm. The ljArication mixture used for pperatiog this engine con- sisted of 75% transformer oil or MK-8Qand 25% HS-2016r MK-22 oil.// The engine oonsumed .0.8 liters of oil per hour* Since a 1600 kilowatt generator.could-not be found, the engine was set to function at 50% capacity. The weight to p Ir ratio of this unit was 0" 12.3. The unit functioned nonaally throughout the test period. One of the advantages of using such a unit is that it does not require water for co6ling and the exhaust gases of the turbine can be used for heating purposes. Orig.,'&rt.:has:. 4 figures. Analysis of the exact solution for this case, shows, that the radiation is independent of Ii. Similarly, were magnetic charge to exist, it would not be subject to polarisatio,n radiation at frequencies for which dielectric resonance occurs*!: This explains the failure of E. Amaldi et al. (Notas do Fisical~V-8,.15) to detect the magnetic chdrge from polarisation losses, hypothesized by Dirac. ASSOCIATION: Fizicheskiy institut im. P.N. Lebed0va AN SSSR (Physics Institute imen:i P.N.
