Abstract& A review with 197 references covering the synthesis and the
application of biologically active deriVatives of cellulose, Synthesis of
cellulose derivatives witb antimicrobial~and hemostatic (blood clotting)
properties and possible areas of the, applicatlon~ of . these materials are dis-
cussed in detail as well as the s nthesis Of grafted 6ellulose copolymers and
of.biologically active proteins kenzymes and antigens)$ and -the utilization
of cellulose derivatives containing ionagenic: or complex formin,-> groups in
medicine. The latter ones axe~capable of. being used -kr themselves or as

"Toxicity and Radioprotectilve Properties of Se
rotonin-Containing Polyglucin
Derivatives"
Moscow, Farmakologiya i Toksikologiya, Vol 34, No 3, May-Jun 71, pp, 328-330
Abstract: Compounds containing serotoninbound to the polyglucin derivatives
through azomethide and amide bonds had lower toxicity than those with ion-
serotonin. These derivatives produced a pronounced radioprotective
effect in mice comparable to serotonin-creatinine sulfate. A conclusion is
reached -that addition of law,.-mcilecular weight medicinal compounds to water
soluble polyglucin derivatives may be~one~of the choice methods forimprov-
.,ing their properties.

"Energy Distribution of Electrons and Optic .al.Properties of High-frequency Argon
Discharge"
Leningrad, OpLika i Spektroskopiya. Vol 28, No 1, Jan 70i pp 192-195
Abstract: Energy distribution functions were measured f6r electrons in a high-
~Lrequency argon discharge at a frequency of, 28~ Mhz in the C1.0-9-0.25 tor-r
pressure range at currents of 50-150.~ma. tThe resultant; distribution functions
were used to estimate the role o-r various.processes afferting the balance of the
3p5 and 3p54p levels of argon. Balance epations were calculated for th~e
4S
system of 3P54s levels and the system of 3P34p levels-. Iffie results indicate
the possibility of calculating optical characteristics o' a high-frequency dis-
charge on the basis of experimentally..found:dii;tribution:lfunctA.tNns- The authors
