1. Progress Reports on Tasks Assigned by or of Interest to
Senior Management:
None.
2. Major Events. that Have Occurred During the Preceding Week:
a. Backfill Project:
(1) On,19 May 1988, the Contracts Staff, FMD/OL,
issued a modification to the RTKL Backfill Design Contract in the
amount of $509,961. The modification includes designs for
renovating the D Vault Primary Distribution System, modernizing the
Building's Monitoring and Control Systems, and Full-time On-site
Technical Support to be provided by one construction manager.
(2) On 23 May, the Contracts Staff, FMD/OL,
requested proposals for the renovation of A Vault and B Vault
Primary Electrical Distribution Systems from RTKL, Associates, in
support of the Headquarters Backfill Program. Proposals are
25X1 requested from the contractor by 10 June.

c. Kofco, t e urniture contractor, completed the
installation of furniture and partitions on the northeast and
northwest side of the sixth floor, New Headquarters Building. The

d.,.On,19 May, the Contracts Staff, FMD/OL, issued a

as employees of Allied and GSI, supported the DDI sponsored
American Institute of Aeronautics and Astronautics (AIAA)
conference on 21 and 22 May. AApproximately 300 non-CIA attendees
were present for h two-day

equipment. The fixed price for the architectural and engineering
esign study--or the installation or standby chillers in the New
eadquarters Building and an electrical distribution study and
services is $34,595.

e. Jogging Track Project: The final design package from
()Dewberry & Davis on the jogging track which incorporated all

f. Status of Chilled Water Lines: No change.

g. Significant Outages of Services/Utilities: On 21 May
plumbing work was performed on the existing chilled water piping
within the North Basement and South Penthouse fan rooms. The

contract in the amount of $81,996 to Hitt Contracting, Inc. for
Renovations to Computer Rooms in the New Headquarters Building.
i. Construction has started on replacing the first floor
roof on the Original Headquarters Building. The contract was
awarded by GSA to National Roofing at a cost of $736,377.
Replacement is scheduled to be completed by 31 December.
j. On 20 May, Allied awarded a contract to Substation
Test Company to evaluate the extent of PCB contamination of the
spill site at the Hammermill Building. The results of these tests
401 should define the amount of cont_a_minatedsoil remaining to be

coordinate the response to any facility operational problems
associated with the relocation activities, and will be located in

4. Management Activities and Concerns:
a. Personnel:
(1) During this period, three summer employees
reported to FMD.
(2) reassigned from FMD.
b. OTIS Elevator Company has installed a test sensor on
the blue freight elevator in the GC Corridor, Headquarters
Building. If a substantial savings is realized by reducing damages
during loading and off loading, the company will install the
sensors on the other floors and the yellow freight elevator.
c. Motor Pool Branch (MPB), FMD/OL, personnel are
evaluating a new process for repairing damaged windshields. if
this process proves to be effective, it may reduce the number of
windshields that require replacing and thereby save money.
d. As part of the evaluation process for selecting a new
front end alignment machine, Bear Automotive demonstrated their
current model and explained its operation to MPB personnel. Only
one more pre8entation is left, after which FMD will make the final
evaluation. A new machine will significantly reduce the amount of
time and money currently expended in taking vehicles out for
service.
