PRIMARY FUNCTIONS--ANTISUBMARINE WARFARE
(ASW) AND RECONNAISSANCE/TARGET ACQUISITION.
THE VERSION USED IN AN ASW CAPACITY IS
DESIGNATED THE HORMONE A. IT IS EQUIPPED
WITH DIPPING SONAR SUSPENDED ON A CABLE
WHICH CAN BE RAISED OR LOWERED AT A RATE OF
10 FEET PT:R SECOND, SURFACE-SEARCH RADAR,
A WEAPONS BAY FOR TORPEDOES AND SONOBOUYS,
AND, OCCASIONALLY, MAGNETIC ANOMALY DETECTION

CHARACTERIZED BY A TOP-HAT SHAPED DEVICE ON
THE UPPER SIDE OF THE FUSELAGE BOOM.
THE RECONNAISSANCE/TARGET ACQUISITION VER-
SION, DESIGNATED HORMONE B, DIFFERS FROM
THE A MODEL IN THE SHAPE OF ITS CHIN RADOME
AND IN THE ABSENCE OF A DIPPING SONAR AND
WEAPONS-BAY DOOR.
4. MISSION READOUT: ONE HORMONE HELICOPTER, TYPE UNDETERMINED, WAS
IDENTIFIED WITHIN A WALLED COMPOUND INSIDE THE CITY OF LATAKIA. A
POSSIBLE HORMONE HELICOPTER WAS OBSERVED APPROXIMATELY 50 YARDS AWAY.
